Flyleaf Passerby Army Fanclub launches!

Filed under: News — admin @ 5:48 pm

Flyleaf Passerby Army logo
The official Flyleaf Fan-Club “Passerby Army”, has just been announced and launched today!

The name is fitting because before the band had the now world-famous name of Flyleaf, they were called Passerby, and in fact they released three EPs under that name, but had to change it due to the name already being taken.

So they chose the name “Flyleaf”, why that name? What does it mean? “A flyleaf is the blank page at the front of a book,” explains Lacey Mosley, Flyleaf’s singer. “It’s the dedication page, the place you write a message to someone you’re giving a book to, and, that’s kind of what our songs are—personal messages that provide a few moments of clarity before the story begins.”

When you become a member of Passerby Army you will receive a membership t-shirt that is ONLY available by becoming a member. In addition to the Flyleaf t-shirt, you will gain access to the Passerby Army members’ only fan site where exclusive Flyleaf video, audio, news updates, members’ only message board, chat server and much more will be made available to you. Members will also gain access to pre-sale tickets at low service fees before the general public. As an added bonus, the first 85 members who join will receive an exclusive Flyleaf hoodie in place of the t-shirt.

It costs $25 dollars (plus shipping and handling) for a one-year Passerby Army membership.

Music Video of the Day #2 - All Around Me by Flyleaf (October 24th, 2007)

Filed under: News, Music Videos, Videos — admin @ 5:31 pm

Pre-OrderToday’s “Music-Video-Of-The-Day” is All Around Me by Flyleaf (Check out the first Video Of The Day if you missed it). This great band fronted by a remarkable young women is one of the brightest lights in the world today for Christ.

They are unashamed and unshy about their faith and yet they are not scared to tour with even the worst bands (they are touring with Korn soon). Even so, they never allow it to effect them (so says the lead singer of The Showdown, another one of my favorite bands) and they continue to live life the right way. I’ll post an interview soon with Lacey, the lead singer, so you can see yourself why she is such a light to the world, she has a great testimony that no one should miss.

Flyleaf is coming out with a special edition of their debut self-titled record on October 30th! Be sure to pick it up and support them! I’ll post more on the special edition album as well as some video previews of the acoustic versions of their songs that will be on the special edition DVD in the coming days.

For now check out their latest music video! The song is All Around Me. Lyrics below:

Norma Jean collection. Quote of the Day #2 - October 22nd, 2007

Filed under: News — admin @ 2:44 pm

Norma Jean's album RedeemerCaptain the ship is sinking, have mercy” - from the song “The End of All Things Will Be Televised” by Norma Jean from their last album Redeemer.

I freakin’ love this line. He screams it like five times in a row and each time I gotta crank the sound up cause it’s so awesome! Gives me chills. Obviously the line is open to interpretation, but they are a Christian band so I interpret the “ship” to be the world, sinking further and further into sin, and the “Captain” being the Lord. Because in the line just before this, he talks of all the empires that were wiped away in an instant. That verse from the same song says this exactly:

O infamous city, full of turmoil, I’m terrified at your collapse
The kings, they shudder with horror, their faces distorted with fear
Endless empires gently brushed away in the blink of an eye
All Creation, wilted

Which of course is referring to the ancient cities, like Babylon, that God destroyed because of their sin. That was a different time, different place, before the coming of Jesus, of course, and they did not have The Holy Spirit inside them, but the point remains the same. Turn to the Savior, Jesus Christ, before the sin of the world, corrupts you and everything around you.

By the way, Norma Jean announced on their myspace blog that they will be coming out with a collection of all their albums soon! :D

If you missed my the Quote of the Day #1, give that a look. :)

Pillar, Tait, Kutless, Tobymac teaching at Camp Electric Christian rock musician camp

Filed under: News — admin @ 2:09 pm

Camp Electric LogoI thought I’d alert everyone to this event in case anyone can attend it.

If you are between the ages of 13-18 then check out Camp Electric. It is a Christian “rock and roll camp” where kids can jam out (and learn how to play instruments) with members from various bands, including Pillar, Tobymac, Tait and more. From Pillar particularly, Rob Beckley (singer), Lester Estelle (drums) and Kalel (bass) will all be attending!

Camp Electric will be held on June 29th-July 3rd, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee at Trevecca Nazarene University. Tickets to attend the camp will definitely sell out fast so you better get in early if you want to join. Click the name up above to go to the web-site, which isn’t fully up yet but there is a link to the Camp Electric myspace page for more information. Or if you’re too lazy read some descriptions of the camp below:

Decyfer Down interviews and blog

Filed under: News, Interviews — admin @ 1:42 pm

Decyfer Down's End of Grey albumDecyfer Down is a hard rock Christian band who’s debut album, released in June of 2006, was called End of Grey. It’s a pretty good record (my little brother went to their concert and got his copy of their album signed), even though they’re sound stays the same throughout. I particularly like the songs: Break Free, Burn Back the Sun, Walking Dead, Life Again and Vanity. You can listen to some songs on Decyfer Down’s myspace page.

They are not shy at all to talk about their faith in Christ. Check them out by clicking on these links: Decyfer Down Interview 1 (click on the video button furthest to left, it’ll say the band name), Decyfer Down Interview 2.

And check out this crazy story from their Decyfer Down myspace blog. Good thing they didn’t actually get arrested! Read it below:

John McCain woodstock “I was a bit tied up” video from Republican Debate

Filed under: News, Videos — admin @ 10:48 am

John McCain PictureDid you guys all see the Republican Debate on Fox News yesterday? Wasn’t it just the best ever? I wish I would’ve recorded it! So many great moments.

One of the best of the night though surprisingly came from John McCain. If you’ve seen McCain, you probably know that he isn’t exactly the funniest guy around. He’s generally very serious and can sometimes come across as dull, he’s about as far as you can get from the personality of say Rudy. But not at the debate last night!

Check out his line in this clip from last night’s debate. I wish it was better quality, but it was so strong that he actually got a standing ovation from the crowd! I definitely love John McCain and he has a strong chance of getting my vote in ‘08, but like with Mike Huckabee, I’m not sure exactly. By the way, definitely check out John McCain’s Wikipedia page for more on him. His story of being a Vietnamese POW is INSANE. A true legend he is. Now watch the hilarious video!

For a much clearer video (but I can’t embed it) check here.

Chuck Norris picks Mike Huckabee for US President in 2008!

Filed under: News — admin @ 9:43 am

Chuck Norris pictureHe has spoken! Chuck Norris picks Mike Huckabee as his choice for President in 2008! What more do you need? IT’S FREAKIN’ CHUCK NORRIS!!!!!!

Read his in-depth article on why he chose Mike Huckabee, who Mike is, why he is the right person for the job, how he can win the Republican Nomination and the vote of the American people for President and more in the link above.

Personally I totally have my eye on Mike Huckabee. He has recently caught my eye as I already stated in this interview with Mike Huckabee, but now Mike REALLY has my attention, and I actually believe he could win. I haven’t made my final decision though; But that won’t stop me from saying . . . MIKE IN 2008! :D

Do you want to see good quality Christian video games?

Filed under: News — admin @ 7:08 am

The Bible Game for PS2. We can do better!I thought you all might be interested in checking out this thread that was recently posted on the GameSpot forums. It asks, “Do you want to see good quality Christian video games?

I posted at least twice in the thread (my name on GameSpot is “astro64th”). As should be obvious given my faith and the Christian-focus of this blog, my answer to that question is a resounding “YES”!

I believe that, even just for the good of the video game medium, Christian games are something that should come about in order for people to take the medium seriously. The medium has to be able to handle such serious subject matter as faith, morality, family values and religion, and in the modern video game age the industry is still largely afraid to touch upon religion, much less Christianity and belief in Jesus Christ.

For those that don’t wish to check out the discussion on the message board but want to see my posts, here is the main one:

Pre-Order Demon Hunter's Storm the Gates of Hell Special Edition CD/DVDToday marks the inception of my “Quote of the Day” and “Video of the Day” features. I will however try and post these as often as I can, with one every few days being the goal. But hey you very well may get the daily. We’ll see.

And what better to mark my first post than with the music video for Demon Hunter’s “Fading Away”, off their upcoming album Storm the Gates of Hell. I already told you about Demon Hunter on Headbanger’s Ball, but now I can actually post the video on my site via the power of youtube! YAY! :D
