New site for Christian singer Michael W. Smith
I’m throwing some Christian Contemporary Music in Josh’s recent Metal Bands mix. Michael W. Smith, the enormously popular Christian singer/songwriter with over 13 million records sold, has launched his new official website michaelwsmith.com.
The launch coincides with his current summer dates and will add support to his upcoming fall and Christmas tours. The fall tour dates are September 21 through November 5, 2006. The Christmastime tour featuring a full 64-piece orchestra will run November 24 through December 17, 2006. On Smith’s interactive Web site, visitors can listen to his music on the free “Radio Smitty,” watch video press kits on a multimedia player, meet other fans in the message board section, read Smith’s blog and the band’s blog, purchase online merchandise, and download special icons and backgrounds.
His site is also the official source for the latest news and tour dates. Inaddition to his music, he has information about his seven videos, 10 books,ministries, and recent movie titled “The Second Chance.”
“The excitement and encouragement from my fans about the new site has meantso much to me, the band, and the team that worked so hard on the site,” says Smith. “I’m really happy with the job they did and even more happy that it is meeting with such enthusiastic approval. We wanted to create a place where our fans could feel at home, have access to tons of information, and get to know me, the band, and each other a little better — especially through our blogs and message boards.”
Smith, whose prolific and distinguished career spans more than 20 years, has produced 18 albums, 13 gold and five platinum, earning him 29 number one Christian radio hits and nine number one mainstream radio hits. He is also the recipient of three Grammy Awards, one American Music Award, and 40 Dove Awards. Smith is widely regarded as one of the most popular and successful artists within Christian Contemporary Music.
