Music Video: East West - Vacant
This is the music video for East West’s hit song Vacant, off their last 2004 album, Hope in Anguish.
Hope in Anguish was writte while the band was on tour visiting 200 different venues and they only had two weeks to prepare before the recording started. As opposed to when they wrote and recorded their major label debute album, A Light in Guinevere’s Garden, which they years to write and pick out songs. “We wrote 2-3 songs a day, and at night called each other and left messages of ideas for the next day. It was a pretty incredible time.” says Mike Tubbs, the vocalist (who also plays guitar), referring to Hope in Anguish.
In the end the album turned out great. A new album from the band (who’s been very quiet of late) is apparently in the works. Read the lyrics and watch the music video for Vacant below.
(verse1)
The night bleeds day,
with every breath I take
reality brings,
bright eyes, smooth skin.
(pre-chorus)
So what is left from this,
a bottle of broken self.
In a moment it’ll all be gone,
til the next time when it all comes back.
(chorus)
Come on,
feed a lie,
watch the birth,
kiss the dirt.
kiss it.
(verse2)
Next time has come and gone,
what will bring the end,
a promise thrown into the night,
or a little reminder.
(bridge)
Searching through these pieces,
looking for your shadow.
Getting closer all the time.
(verse3)
Countless words,
in a sea of explanation,
flailing to grasp,
a rock (to stand).
