Music Video: Demon Hunter - Infected

Filed under: News, Music Videos — josh @ 7:29 am

Demon HunterMusic videos will now start to become a staple of the site, so I hope everyone checks them out and has fun. My first video will be for my FAVORITE BAND. Demon Hunter is a metal band of great skill who can pump out heavy, pounding metal as quick as they can soothing and melodic choruses, and they can sing to boot.

Infected is the first single from their debut, self-titled album. And became a huge hit via MTV and their Headbanger’s Ball, skyrocketing Demon Hunter’s popularity. According to Ryan Clark, lead singer and songwriter, Infected “Paints an image of a person on their death bed and the thoughts that would run through their head at such an overwhelming time. The story told explains that no matter the illness at hand, it’s much more important to be infected with the love of Christ. It suggests the importance of your relationship with the Lord specifically during this inevitable yet potentially glorious crossroad from your life here on earth into the life thereafter.” Check out the video (and lyrics) for Infected below:

(verse1)
I still wonder when the medicine will take it’s effect
And the injection they made, it’s all just left me the same
It’s hard to concentrate with echos of your voice in my head
From all you said, I’m still paralyzed
(pre-chorus)
But I’m almost out of breath from saying things that I’ll regret, that I’ll regret
My time is over
I can’t do this alone
But I’m almost out of breath from saying things that I’ll regret, that I’ll regret
My time is over
I can’t do this alone
(chorus)
I’m infected with you, pull the plug already
Tell me before I go, that you’re infected with me
I’m infected with you, pull the plug already
Tell me before I go, that you’re infected with me
(verse2)
I can’t remember if I ever took a minute to say
That if it had to be now, I’m glad it had to be me
I can’t recuperate, I’m never going to leave here alive
Just help me through this
Don’t let me die here
(bridge)
I’m killing time just trying to find the words that fall so short of You
I’m losing sleep, I can’t compete, I’m giving up
I can’t do this alone!

So what is the video trying to say, in the words of Ryan Clark, “It’s essentially about the idea that everyone experiences pain in one way oranother. The guy in the office is feeling pain throughout the video seemingly through my violent carving into the tree. And in the end, you see that I was just carving help into the tree. We both needed help, and it was obviously for different reasons. It wasn’t meant to be a voodoo doll thing or anything like that. Just showing that pain, be it physical, emotional or mental, is universal.”

And there you have it. Look forward to the other two Demon Hunter music videos (Not Ready to Die and Undying) to be put up on the site throughout the week. And of course, we will be sure to post up the next music video, for The Triptych’s “One Thousand Apologies” as soon as it releases.
